Is Medium Still Relevant in 2025?

A decade ago I was its biggest promoter, but for years I’ve been dormant, and I’m not sure if I should come back

Right now, you are probably thinking either:
“I clicked on this because I also want to know the answer and I hope he has it”

Or:

“Another clickbait article, but I guess I’ll just see what this one says since I’m already here.”

That was sort of my evolution on this platform for the past decade. At first, I used it to vent a personal story that got some traction (for its time), and then I used it sporadically between 2015 and 2018 while I applied for the diplomatic service.

For years, I was possibly one of the platform’s biggest promoters, and I even got a couple of companies that I worked for to join the platform. And when you factor in that I wasn’t even writing so much on the platform myself, you would borderline think that I was being paid to promote Medium.

Today, even though I haven’t published in years, I simply check up on emails about my one story that collects readers every week (thanks to some academic paper that referenced it). Either that or I say “ok, this article had an interesting title so let me check it out” only to be disappointed by the quality of the article or even the basic writing. I still recall last year, two days in a row, I clicked on a story that ended up barely having complete sentences…
